Glaucoma Management

At Balaji Eyes Hospital, we provide comprehensive glaucoma management using the latest surgical and laser technologies to preserve vision and prevent further optic nerve damage. Our approach is tailored to the severity and type of glaucoma, ensuring effective pressure control and long-term outcomes. Treatments include:

🔹 Trabeculectomy (with or without Mitomycin-C)

A time-tested surgical procedure to create a new drainage pathway for aqueous fluid, effectively lowering intraocular pressure. The use of Mitomycin-C helps reduce scarring and improve long-term success rates.

🔹 AADI & AGV Implants (Aqueous Shunt Devices)

These are advanced drainage implants used in complex or refractory glaucoma cases where conventional surgeries may not be effective.

  • AADI (Aurolab Aqueous Drainage Implant) – A cost-effective and efficient solution developed in India.

  • AGV (Ahmed Glaucoma Valve) – A valved implant that regulates fluid flow and minimizes pressure fluctuations.

🔹 SLT (Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty)

A non-invasive laser procedure that enhances fluid drainage by stimulating the eye’s natural outflow system. It’s ideal for open-angle glaucoma and can be repeated if needed.

🔹 DLCP (Diode Laser Cyclophotocoagulation)

Used for advanced or painful glaucomas, this laser treatment targets the ciliary body to reduce fluid production and lower intraocular pressure.

🔹 Nd:YAG Peripheral Iridotomy

A laser procedure used primarily for angle-closure glaucoma. It creates a small hole in the peripheral iris, restoring normal fluid flow and preventing pressure build-up.
